"Vision Plus" Benevolence Fund

Jesus taught that on a Day of Final Judgment, He will thank all of His children for feeding, clothing, sheltering, and visiting Him, for "Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers [on Earth], you did it to me" (Matthew 25).

vision plus logoTherefore, at First Baptist Bethalto, church members designate funds to our benevloence fund known as "Vision Plus." Facilitated by our daytime staff and deacons, "Vision Plus" provides temporary financial and educational assistance to community members who find themselves in distressed circumstances. Vision Plus works in conjuction with Bethalto Area Ministerial Alliance and other community agencies in order to instil a fresh "vision of hope" to those who need it most. Our ultimate objective is that "Vision Plus" will honor Jesus while "leading people to a loving and caring God".

Who is Eligible?
Anyone who is hurting and in need of a helping hand.

Does Everyone Receive Assistance?
Everyone receives prayerful consideration. Sometimes referrals to other organizations are deemed the best solution. At times, when funds are available, direct financial assistance may be given.

If beneficiaries become repeating recipients, financial planning sessions will be required. These private budgeting sessions will equip individuals to set financial priorities and develop personalized goals. Budgeting sessions are always available on an appointment basis.

Are There Guidelines?
Each case is evaluated on its own merit. As opposed to government programs, there are no strict guidelines on income levels. Our system is based on honesty and accountability. If an individual is not willing to assist in fulfilling the given need, we can do little to help the situation. The goal of this ministry is to help people become accountable for themselves.

What needs are considered for financial assistance?
We consider needs such as power bills, housing assistance, food, and assistance to certain medical and prescription needs. We do not assist with credit card bills, loan payments, or phone bills.

Do I have to pay this back?
This ministry is a gift to those who receive benefits. There is no mandate to pay it back. If someone wishes to give back to the ministry they certainly can, but are not required to do so.
