No church family is perfect. After all, a church could be more accurately described as a hospital for imperfect people. As a result, in our prideful independence, we often desire to believe in Jesus while avoiding church membership. The late, 19th-century preacher, D.L. Moody, best illustrated our need as Christians to maintain fellowship with other Believers: While debating the issue with a friend, he used tongs to take a burning ember out of his flaming fireplace and proceeded to set the ember on the cold, stone floor. As Moody's friend watched the ember quickly fade out, he smiled at Moody and said, "I understand your point."

Not only can church fellowship fill our need for community, but it provides us with the opportunity to see God in action: Jesus said, "For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them" (Matt18:20). That's why, as members of First Baptist Bethalto, we strive to keep the attitude of the Apostle Paul: "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near" (Heb.10:24-25).

On Sunday mornings, we offer more than babysitting for your child or toddler. All kids under the age of 6 receive a safe learning environment that promotes both positive, healthy friendhips, as well as an introduction to spiritual disciplines for Biblical character development. Preschoolers use a hands-on, sensory-based curriculum in order to learn spiritual truths through all of their senses.  During the adult worship hour on Sunday mornings, while moms and dads are praying, our kids are led in their own time of worship as they sing, pray, and learn about God.  In addition to teaching basic, Biblical knowledge, we guarantee a sufficient amount of time for each child to "wiggle and giggle" in all of God's creative glory.  We also offer a week of Vacation Bible School in the summers.

"Kidzway" (K-5th grades)

Kidzway is for children grades Kindgergarten through 5th Grade. Our mission is to plant seeds of God's love into the hearts of children, with the hope that they may come to know Jesus, become like Jesus, and make Him known to others. Our goal is to foster a fun, inviting, and exciting environment in which each child can develop both sincere relationships with their peers and a greater knowledge of God's love and power.

"Elevate" (6th grade - High School)
"Elevate" Student Ministries encourages students and teenagers to develop a life of discipleship to Jesus.  In addition, students are trained to take on spiritual leadership amongst their peers (Romans 15:14). Elevate Student Ministry achieves this through the following programs:
Adult Bible Fellowships

Adult Bible Fellowships offer adults of all ages the opportunity to analyze God's Word and to carry one another's burdens through prayer. In order to build empathy and sincere friendships, these weekly classes are organized according to age ranges.  In addition, all Adult Bible Fellowships are encouraged to participate in monthly, informal gatherings, in order to foster deeper social connections. Please see our lobby/office staff for a class that best fits you. Adult Bible Fellowships meet Sunday mornings from 8:30am - 9:30am or 10:50am - 11:50am, while a fellowship of various ages meets Wednesday nights from 6:00pm - 7:00pm.  Other adult fellowship opportunities include the following:
